MEXICAN POST @ 104 Chestnut St. (Front & Chestnut in Old City)

$6.75 Seafood Nachos

chips, melted jack and cheddar cheeses, tomatoes, scallions, jalapenos, olives, shrimp, imitation crab, creama

I was real siked to try these nachos, because I’m a pescatarian and thought they would be good.  I was disappointed!  First, the nachos were pretty substantial in toppings and the chips definitely didn’t hold up.  The topping to chip ratio was fine, though.  I REALLY wasn’t into the seafood—the shrimp/imitation crab were in some kind of sweet sauce that reminded me too much like the insides of crab ragoon (imitation crab&cream cheese) that you get at a shitty bullet-proof-bodega (JUST SAYIN’).  The seafood would have been so much better with some old bay in a cheese roux.

Totally bummed and not even willing to give their regular nachos a chance because it seems like they’ll be boring.  Their margs were okay, but their Happy Hour is only for the bar…not for the entire restaurant.  I guess visit if you are in Old City…for some reason.  Being a tourist….

[SORRY FOR THE KIND OF SHITTY PICTURES.  THE RESTAURANT WAS SUPER DIM]

Seafood nachos are tough to get right.
